Space to set some of it down

Explore The Retreats

Time away from ordinary life to rest, think more clearly, and return to yourself with a little more steadiness. Each retreat is intentionally small, with space for guided reflection, gentle experiences, and unstructured time to simply be. We hold the logistics and the rhythm so you do not have to carry that too.

Bali, Indonesia

6 Days / 5 Nights · Intimate (8–16 guests) · Grief & Gentle Reset

The retreat unfolds in a quieter part of Bali, in a neighborhood outside the main tourist corridors. Mornings center on unhurried movement, guided reflection, and time in nature. Afternoons weave in shared meals, visits to local temples or artisans, and space to rest. Evenings are slower and more spacious, with options for ocean walks, journaling by yourself, or small‑group circles. The pace is intentionally gentle so your nervous system can downshift without feeling rushed.

Bali moves at its own rhythm. For six days, you borrow that rhythm so your system can remember what steadiness feels like.

Intimate guesthouses or villas in a quiet area, selected for privacy, walkability, and access to rice fields and the sea.

Oaxaca Coast, Mexico

6 Days / 5 Nights – Intimate (8–12 guests) – Grief & Nature Immersion

Set along a stretch of the Mexican coast known more for fishing villages and slow evenings than for nightlife, this retreat balances structure and ease. Mornings offer gentle movement and guided grief‑informed sessions. Midday is for rest, swimming, wandering town, or doing nothing at all. Some afternoons include optional local experiences, like cooking with a home cook or visiting a nearby market, always with plenty of room for quiet. The work is real, but it honors your capacity and never asks you to perform.

The setting is intimate and the group is small so you can do honest inner work without being watched or put on display.

Chiang Mai, Thailand

7 Days / 6 Nights – Intimate (8–16 guests) – Grief & Wellness

Northern Thailand offers a slower pace than the southern beaches, with mountains, temples, and neighborhood cafes that invite unhurried days. This week includes traditional Thai bodywork, a cultural day with temple visits and local food, and long stretches of unscheduled time for sleep, journaling, or sitting by the pool. One day is completely open so you can choose what you need most, whether that is spa treatments, wandering the old city, or staying in. The emphasis is on nourishment, not productivity.

Good food is part of the care here, with time to linger over meals instead of rushing from one activity to the next.

Comfortable hotel or pool‑villa style lodging either in or just outside the city, selected for quiet rooms and easy access to walking streets.

Da Nang, Vietnam

7 Days / 6 Nights – Intimate (8–16 guests) – Coastal Wellness & Rest

Da Nang sits between mountains and sea, with easy access to long beaches and the lantern‑lit streets of Hoi An. The retreat centers on water and spaciousness: slow mornings by the ocean, optional yoga or movement, and time for journaling or simply watching the tide. Two curated outings bring in local culture and food, balanced by several afternoons with no scheduled programming. You have more unstructured time than most retreats offer, by design.

This is a good fit if you want both structure and real free time, with plenty of room to opt out, stay in, or wander on your own.

Wellness‑oriented hotel or resort with on‑site spa or pool, chosen for direct or easy access to the beach.

Ghana, West Africa

6–7 Days – Intimate (8–16 guests) – Grief & Cultural Immersion

This retreat is held in a part of Ghana where grief, joy, and everyday life sit close together. The rhythm is slower, the welcome is generous, and public expressions of loss and celebration are part of the landscape.

Days include visits to natural sites and botanical gardens, time with local history and storytellers, and space to move at your own pace. There is a dedicated grief ritual, spacious free time, and a closing evening with locally crafted food or gifts so you can mark your time there with intention.

This is a good retreat if you want to do more than decompress. It invites reflection and participation, but never asks you for more than you have.

Likely accommodations: small hotel or guesthouse in a nature-rich area, with daily breakfast.

Guatemala, Central America

6–7 Days · Intimate (8–16 Guests) · Grief & Cultural Immersion

This retreat is held in a region of Guatemala where ruins, lakes, and everyday markets carry the weight of history. The setting is quieter than major tourist hubs and invites a slower kind of attention.

You will have guided time at culturally significant sites, space for personal ritual, and gentle group circles that help you listen for what grief is asking of you now. Afternoons hold a mix of rest and light excursions, with one dedicated closing ritual to honor the chapter you are leaving and the one you are entering.

This is a good retreat if you want to be held by both landscape and community while you sift through what has changed in your life

Likely accommodations: lakefront or countryside hotel with and onsite dining.

Countryside near Seoul, South Korea

6–7 Days · Intimate (8–16 Guests) · Grief & Cultural Immersion

This retreat happens in a quieter setting outside the pace of central Seoul. Traditional architecture, nearby forests, and local food culture create a backdrop that feels both grounded and modern.

The week includes simple practices for nervous system steadiness, optional visits to nearby temples or cultural sites, and generous alone time for walking, journaling, or rest. Group circles focus on how grief and identity intersect in a fast-moving world, so you can leave with more language and kindness for what you carry.

This is a good retreat if you want structure without pressure and are curious about how everyday Korean life honors both change and continuity.

Likely accommodations: small hotel or retreat center in the countryside, and shared common spaces.

HOW THE WEEK FLOWS

Every retreat follows the same basic structure, adjusted for each location.

Arrive and settle in

Days 1–2
You’re picked up from the airport. There’s a welcome dinner the first night. The second day is intentionally light — movement in the morning, bodywork or free time in the afternoon, a private dinner in the evening. The goal is to help your nervous system register that you’ve actually left.

Go deeper.

Days 3–4
This is the core of the retreat. Grief workshops, cultural excursions, or locally led ceremonies depending on the location. One of these days will be the most demanding of the week — we’re honest about that upfront, and it’s placed with recovery time on either side.

Rest.

Day 5
A full day with no required programming. Spa, sleep, solo exploration, or a book by the pool. No agenda.

Close well.

Days 6
Morning movement. A closing circle. A farewell dinner. You leave with a post‑retreat guide and a clear sense of what you’re taking home.
(Where a retreat runs 7 days, Day 7 is final breakfast and departure support.)

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Golden Hour Studio retreat?

A Golden Hour Studio retreat is a small-group, grief-informed container where you step out of your everyday life to rest, remember, and reconnect with yourself after loss.

No. Our retreats welcome people living with many kinds of loss, including anticipatory grief, long-ago losses that still ache, caregiving fatigue, and quiet burnout.

You do not need any special skills. You only need a willingness to be gentle with yourself and offer others the same. We keep our language simple and our practices consent-based.

No. Golden Hour retreats are grief-informed and non-clinical. We do not offer psychotherapy, medical care, or legal advice, and we encourage you to maintain your existing support such as therapy or medical care.

You are invited to participate in core sessions that support the retreat’s purpose, and you are always allowed to pause, step out, or choose a quieter option if your nervous system needs it.

Grief can be tender, and we design our days with clear grounding, consent, and breaks. You will never be pushed to share more than you wish in the group.

Retreats are intentionally small, usually in the range described on each retreat page, so we can honor individual pacing and keep the group feeling intimate and safe.

Each retreat has its own inclusions, but pricing usually covers facilitation and core retreat programming, plus specified lodging and meals when listed on that retreat’s page. Airfare and many optional extras are not included.

You can expect to pay separately for flights, trip-cancellation and medical travel insurance, personal shopping, additional spa or healing sessions, and any optional excursions that are clearly marked as add-ons.

Many retreats offer payment plans with an initial non-refundable deposit followed by scheduled installment payments. Each retreat page outlines the specific options and deadlines.

You are not just buying a bed and some meals. You are investing in a carefully held space, experienced facilitation, small-group attention, legal and safety systems, and ongoing support beyond the days on site.

Yes. A non-refundable deposit is required to hold your place on any retreat, and your registration is not confirmed until this payment and your signed forms are received.

Our general policy is that deposits are non-refundable and later payments become non-refundable after clearly stated dates, because we commit to venues and staff on your behalf. Exact timelines are listed on each retreat page and in your Terms and Conditions.

You can expect to pay separately for flights, trip-cancellation and medical travel insurance, personal shopping, additional spa or healing sessions, and any optional excursions that are clearly marked as add-ons.

Transfer options are sometimes available up to a certain date and are handled on a case-by-case basis. The relevant retreat page and your legal documents will outline any transfer windows and fees.

In most cases, yes. We collect dietary information in advance and work closely with venues to accommodate allergies and preferences whenever possible. Some locations have limits, which we will name clearly.

We invite you to share what you are comfortable disclosing on your registration forms so we can assess fit. We design retreats with rest, hydration, and pacing in mind, but we cannot provide medical care or guarantee symptom-free travel.

We partner with vetted venues and local providers, keep emergency contacts on file, and carry appropriate insurance. In true emergencies, local medical services are engaged, and we follow our safety protocols.

Accessibility varies by venue. We include notes on stairs, terrain, and room types on each retreat page and welcome direct questions so we can help you assess whether a specific retreat will work for your body and needs.

Each retreat page lists recommended arrival and departure windows. We suggest avoiding tight connections and giving yourself a buffer for travel delays so you do not start the retreat already exhausted.

For some retreats, group transfers from a designated airport are included or available for an additional fee. Details for each trip are listed clearly on its page. Otherwise, we provide guidance on local transport options.

Most retreats offer shared rooms as the standard option, with a limited number of private or upgraded rooms available at a higher rate. Room types and pricing are listed on each retreat page

Once your retreat is confirmed, we send a retreat-specific packing list with clothing suggestions, comfort items, and any journal or ritual materials that will support the work we are doing together.

If you feel a mix of longing and nervousness about being with others in your grief, you are in the right place to start a conversation. If you are in acute crisis or need intensive clinical support, we may gently recommend a different level of care and offer referrals.

We expect emotional waves. Your facilitators will offer grounding practices, quiet spaces, and permission to step back when needed. We also set group agreements around confidentiality and respect so you can move at your own pace.

You will receive simple integration guidance and information about any post-retreat circles, programs, or alumni spaces so you are not left alone with everything that surfaced.

Many groups choose to stay in touch, and for some retreats we create optional post-retreat spaces where you can continue to check in with fellow participants. We keep these offerings clearly labeled and consent-based.

Dates and pricing are released per cohort. Spaces are limited.

Not sure which retreat is right for you?

The call is a conversation, not a sales pitch. We will gently explore what you are carrying, what kind of setting would feel truly supportive right now, and whether any upcoming retreats are a fit or if a different kind of support would be wiser.

A NOTE ON HOW THESE ARE CREATED

Each retreat is built with trusted local partners who know the destination intimately, its people, its pace, and the kinds of spaces and practitioners that can hold this work with care. You are not stepping into a generic wellness package. You are stepping into a retreat shaped with intention, for people carrying something heavy who need space to rest and put some of it down for a few days.

Groups stay small on purpose. The rhythm is thoughtful and the structure is clear, so you can soften into the experience instead of managing every next step.
